Jonathan's Story

Jonathan is dedicated to securing the human right to health. He first joined the U.S. Army where he coordinated, conducted, and participated in conventional and unconventional, medical-focused, humanitarian missions in peacetime and wartime. He continued his public service through AmeriCorps VISTA, Public Allies, and Teach for America. He later became a community organizer working with organizations devoted to dismantling systems and practices that threaten our well-being while building collective, community-driven power. He became the first Latinx constituency organizer for a political party in Texas working on addressing welfare policy needs of the growing Latin American diaspora population in the U.S. His experiences helped him identify a common thread: the critical need for health justice.
