Jonathan's Story

Jonathan is dedicated to reimagining the concept of health and currently working towards his M.S. in bioethics. He first joined the U.S. Army where he coordinated, conducted, and participated in unconventional, medical-focused, humanitarian missions in peacetime and wartime. He continued his public service through AmeriCorps VISTA, Public Allies, and Teach for America. He later became a community organizer working with organizations devoted to dismantling systems and practices that threaten our well-being while building collective, community-driven power. He became the first Latinx constituency organizer for a political party in Texas working on addressing welfare policy needs of the growing Latin American diaspora population in the U.S.— his community. His experiences helped him identify a common thread: the critical need for health justice.
